Portsmouth International Kite Festival - is one of the premier kite festival in the U.K.  It has grown year on year to be recognised by the worldwide kite community as one of the best kite festivals, attracting many kitefliers from around the world together with many tens of thousands of spectators.

The dates for 2016 have been set for August 13th and 14th 2016.  More details will appear on these pages as the event nears.

Situated in a perfect location overlooking the Solent with the Isle of Wight in the background the event is jointly organised by Portsmouth City Council and The Kite Society of Great Britain.

Next year celebrates Portsmouth Kite Festival’s 25th  anniversary, and will welcome a number of guest flyers from years past, bringing them to Southsea Common to showcase their creations and skills alongside some brand-new talent from across the globe. Featuring enormous, wonderful kites and inflatables, superb multi-line kite flyers, artistic kites and historic kites.

“We have some wonderful new flyers and makers coming to the festival this year, and we are so excited to bring back some of our favourites from the past,” explained festival organiser Gill Bloom. “It’s a lot of work to pull this festival together, but with the help of Portsmouth City Council, this year’s festival is shaping up to be even better than ever.”
